Ask just about anyone to describe an herb garden, and you are likely to get
descriptions using words such as tranquil, peaceful, natural, wholesome,
mystical and restful.
It is with those descriptive words in mind that we invite you to take a step out
of the mainstream to spend a day with us learning about Nature and her gifts to
good taste, good health and good living. Herbs are resilient plants that can
be part of any landscape, whether on an apartment balcony, or growing in hidden
nooks on larger acreages. In all cases, herbs can enhance natural beauty,
the flavor of your daily meals, the environment of your home, and your overall
sense of well-being and self-sufficiency. We think those things are worth a
relaxing day meeting some of these wonderful plants and other kindred souls
who share our love for the Earth and her gifts to the good life.
Homeplace Gardens is the result of a lifetime
of returning to the soil for mental health and a reconnection with the
real things in life for Jerrie Crummett. She is a career business teacher
with years in computer classrooms and corporate offices, but throughout
all of her professional career, Jerrie says playing in the dirt was
what she really loved. So, it was a small leap to take her love for
the soil and plants and turn that into a teaching opportunity to introduce
others to the life-enhancing qualities of plants -- many of which date
back to the roots of cultures around the world.
Through years of gardening,
teaching and her qualifications as a Master Gardener, Jerrie has enlisted
the expertise of a number of highly-qualified herb and nature enthusiasts
to cover a broad range of subjects certain to pique the interest of
a wide variety of people. Whether you are interested in how to grow
herbs, how to cook or decorate with them, their history, their medicinal
properties, how to take advantage of their aromatic fragrances in soaps,
infusions and sachets, or just want to know more about many of these
historic and exciting plants, you can discover more at Homeplace Gardens.
Spend a day with us at Homeplace Gardens in Stillwater, Oklahoma and you
will never look at your garden in the same
way again. You will be richer, indeed, after meeting plants that have
added flavor, fragrance and romance to life throughout the ages.
